Welcome to Rockin’ J Longhorns. My name is Joshua Cashman and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and Rockin' J Longhorns. I can remember when I was about 6 or 7 years old seeing a herd of Texas Longhorns along highway 24. I remember seeing their beautiful speckled and spotted colors but the thing I can remember the most was their horns. From that moment on I dreamed of owning Texas Longhorn cattle. Little did I know that in a few years my dream would become a reality.

My Longhorn journey began in the spring of 2004 (when I was 14 years old) with the purchase of three longhorn heifers. I was so proud of them. I can remember taking my family or anybody I could talk into going out to see them. I loved to feed them range cubes and treats, anything just to be with them. Do you think three heifers would be enough? If you said yes then you must not be in the longhorn business. I decided to buy a few more head, (just what my parents wanted to hear, right?) I looked through every Trails magazine from cover to cover at least 100 times. In doing that I became more familiar with top bloodlines and what horn measurement should be. I know studying bloodlines back then helped me out a great deal and still helps me out. In the fall of 2004 my herd had grown from three to eight head. When we were down in Oklahoma in the fall of 2004 I had the pleasure of meeting Barry Judd. I purchased three bred cows from him one of them being BJ Dixie Land Vickie (see cow page). I spent 2005 buying more cattle and talking to more breeders. I would like to thank everyone involved in helping us assemble our herd of Texas Longhorns.

In the fall of 2006 we made the most important decision, choosing a bull that we could build a program around. We looked the world over for a bull that could do that but nothing seemed to click. When I saw the bull Bar B Q in person for the first time I cannot describe the passion that boiled within. Bar B Q is like a diamond in the rough and we know he is one of the very top bulls in the breed. I am even more excited about what he has been producing and what he will produce with our top foundation cows. He has already proven that he can produce horn and that his calves will bring the bucks, with one of his two year old daughters selling for over $30,000. I could go on and on about Bar B Q but this is an "About Us" page so to read more about Bar B Q go to his page.

Rockin' J Longhorns has grown by leaps and bounds from three heifers to a herd of over sixty five head of top quality cows and two really nice bulls. What started as just a hobby has turned into a full time business.

We decided right from the start to have quality over quantity and to breed for the "Total Package", Horns color, conformation and disposition. We have over twenty head of well pedigreed cows and heifers for sale at the ranch. You can see some of the cattle we have for sale in the "Cattle for Sale" part of our website.

Well I hope you enjoyed reading about how I got started in Texas Longhorns. Feel free to call, e-mail or stop by anytime and I would love to show you our herd of Texas Longhorns.

Thanks,

Joshua Cashman
